Rattlesnake master is a very funky pollinator. It is reminiscent of something you would see in a desert garden, but it is native to the midwest prairies. It has spiky, globe thistle flowers that are covered in pollinators in the summer. The blooms do not change much once they have passed, so it gives you some long season interest. The flowers could also be dried and displayed all winter indoors. Eryngium is a very sturdy plant, the foliage is reminiscent of yucca, where the base of the plant is stiff. It is not native to New England so I would not recommend using it in restorations or meadows. Does great in a sunny location, I love mine paired with native grasses.
