Virginia mountain mint has showier flowers than some other varieties and does best in moist sunny to part shade sites. It is an aggressive variety but can be managed with dividing every few years. Most mountain mints are drought, deer, rabbit, and salt tolerant, but can handle a little shade and moisture as well. They make good cut flowers, smell delicious and are edible. Mountain mints attract a wide variety of pollinators that love their nectar and pollen, and they host some specialty pollinators. They have a very long summer bloom time with many flowers at a time, providing so much food for wildlife. They are covered with pollinators all summer. There is one for every garden or meadow.
