Purple giant hyssop is a long blooming full sun perennial that has beautiful pale purple flowers. It is a part of the mint family, which gives it some deer and rabbit resistance, but it is clump forming and non aggressive. Agastache scrophulariifolia is abuzz with many different pollinators through it’s long blooming season, and makes a wonderful addition to any garden or meadow. It also attracts hummingbirds! It is rare in New England and would benefit from a little help from humans. It’s seed heads attract birds in fall and into winter, and left unpruned they look gorgeous in a mixed fall and winter display, while also providing habitat for wildlife.
