Sideoats grama is a lovely warm season grass whos seeds resemble tiny oats dangling and flowers in shades of purple and orange. It is the larval host plant to green and spotted skippers, and it’s seeds are foraged by birds. It gets only 1-3′ tall, and is lovely in massed border plantings, meadows, it is very adaptable. It loves the sun. Although not native to the farm coast, it’s natural migration pattern would make sense for it to travel here from its native range, just a smidge south of here.
