Sweet fern is such a love. It is an easy, unassuming, low growing, spreading, shade loving native shrub that smells divine. It’s leaves have a fern like appearance and in winter the stems take on a deep orange to red color. It is Deer and rabbit resistant and drought and salt tolerant. It naturally grows in mass, I find that following suite tends to lend great results.
