Eastern red cedar is a familiar tree in our coastal landscapes. It is an evergreen, pioneer species. It can tolerate drought, deer, rabbits, salt, wind, and on and on. J. virginiana is resilient! It also has blue berries that attract many different varieties of birds and hosts the Olive Juniper Hairstreak Butterfly. These trees can reach 15-30′.
