Cardinal flower is a stunning late blooming, red vertical flower found along riverbanks that is a favorite of hummingbirds, as well as bees and butterflies. It is a host plant to several butterflies and moths. Red lobelia likes to be consistently moist, but otherwise is fairly low maintenance. Does well shade to sun, and is deer and rabbit resistance. A wonderful plant for the garden or woodland edge, and a great addition to a rain garden.
