Ninebark is loved by several specialty bee species and is a host plant to many wonderful moth larvae. It is a wonderful under utilized shrub that is great in creating hedges or thickets or an understory in a windbreak. It also for how easy it is to care for, and it’s wonderful year round interest. It’s white to rose spring flowers are followed by berries and the leaves have wonderful fall color. After the leaves have fallen you can enjoy the peeling bark that comes in “nine” colors and textures. Deer and drought resistant and good for erosion control.
