Prairie dropseed is a wonderful grass for the garden, mass plantings, erosion control, and it is also a shade tolerant grass. It does like it dry and makes for a wonderful addition in summer, fall or winter and spring if you don’t cut it back until it re emerges. It is also a host plant for 6 types of lepodoptera. You really can’t go wrong with this grass, with is’ts luch green foliage that is topped by golden seed heads in fall.
